oil in air box

rite im wrkin on a mates clio 1.2 and went to replace the air filter. wen i removed old one was full of oil any suggestions as too y this is? thou was goin be a ten min job :S

If I remember right my 02 plate 1.2 16v or w reg 1.2 8 v can't remember which of the 2 though did same thing although how much oil you talking?

usually see a bit of oil in nearly all 1.2 16v clios.
Worry if its a lot.
