oil leak /Rear shock

Ive just noticed a patch of oil on my drive directly under the rear passenger side wheel.

Had a quick look under the car and there seems to be oil over the bottom mount of the rear shock. Is this normal or should I be worried???

Cars a MK1 172. Is it another trip to my friendly local Ren dealer...

not normal....

bounce the car, or rather get someone else to....then listen to the damper, if its leaked alot, itll make a noise.

There seems to be a little on the driver side one as well, surely both couldnt go at the same time!?!

Anyone know how much Im looking at for a replacement??

i had mine replaced under warranty when it was leaking, also on a mk1.

phoned Ren today.the cars a 2001 model and done 30K miles so not covered by warrenty.. arse.

Apparently another 172 owner had his done at the same garage this week, car had only done 20K, still not covered!!!

Is it a common fault??

mine is a 2001 and had done 25k (i think) when i had mine done, full dealer service history. they did try telling me it was not covered, then i kicked up a fuss and got told reno would pay towards replacing it, i then told them i was still not happy and it was fully covered.
