'Oil Ok' on trip computer

Should this warn you when oil is low on the car? Every time i start the car it says 'Oil OK' but went round a corner yesterday and the oil light came on with the stop light!

I checked the oil and it didn't even register on the dip stick, needless to say it has now been filled with oil. I have never seen the computer say anything other than 'Oil OK'?

It's French and electronic.

I'd trust it as much as I'd trust Jo Brand to be left in charge of a plate of biscuits.

Yeah "oil ok" ended up costing me £2k when my engine ran out of oil while driving back from a mates house. I check the oil once a week now just to be on the safe side.

Checked yesterday and it is about 4cm high, can i top another oil on top or should i empty and refill ? Also what oil is needed ? ill search now anyway.

ANY oil is better than no oil. Im not sure about any other clios but the 2.0 need 5-40.

Did you check the level when the engine had not been running for atleast 10 mins? And by full of pilling don't mean to the filler cap?

My oil level reader seams to be bob on.

if you press the trip computer reset button on the dash when its displaying oil ok then it gives you an indication of the oil level.

its useless though, mine was displaying half the other day so i got out and let the car settle for 20 mins and checked the oil and it was bang on max.

Lol ^^^ it's at the front, right in the middle. Kinda underneath the fuel rail guard, by the oil filter.

My Ph1 one was bang on the money when I changed the oil. The level was identical to the one on the dipstick as i finished topping it up. Was rather impressed TBH.

The dash display did one day remember that it's French and told me there was no oil in the engine, and it didn't like the drive to work (felt like limp mode) but there was no oil on my driveway so I carried on. Amazingly at lunchtime, all the oil had miraculously followed me to work from wherever it had gone, and re-entered the sump without so much as taking the plug out and the sensor was happy again.
