Oil pressure gauge........again

  Looking for a ph-quick...
right, fitted an auto gauge oil pressure gauge today and it constantly sits no lower than 7 bar. it twitches when i rev it but thats it!
i got a replacement sender with the auto gauge kit but theres no way it will replace the original one as it far to big.
any ideas?

its auto gauge pal, yeh its earthed preoperly cus i disconnected it and it stoped workin when i reconnected it was jus the same. i imagine its electrical?? :S although i aint 100% sure when i turn the ignition it jus shoots all the way up to 7bar and cums donw a tiny bit wen im driving.
HELP!

a mechanical one would have a pipe going to the back..

electrical one has a sender unit that you put in the sump and wires going to the meter that gives an anologue output.

arent you supposed to fit the sender unit they sent you into the bottom of your sump?? id imagine it works on different signals to your standard oil pressure sensor?

  Looking for a ph-quick...
well thats wot my initial reaction, but theres no way it will fit in place of the original sender. plus if i do change it it will be a nightmare to do so??
has anybody fitted any of these? or know anybody who has

Amir

i dont think the idea is to fit them in the place of your original sender.. i thought you was meant to drill the sump and fit the sender they suply?

  Looking for a ph-quick...
well they give u a loada adapters to use to fit it. so i imagine u can fit it in the original place!

No f**king wonder its not working lol

You need to egt a snadwich plate and connect it between the filter and block, and take the pressure feed off that.

f**king idiots drilling the sump, its only thin pressed steel

:S

Its strong in its shape, like a can of spray paint, but when you drill it, you are gonna be prone to it leaking, and rusting.

And don't what ever you do drill the bottem of the sump, great idea sticking a sender unit and wires out the bottom of one of the lowest points on the car.

got a sandwich plate i brought for my RSi that i never got around to fitting that you can have if you want

lunner, that would be good. i would never dream of drilling it! and this sandwhich plate fits between teh oil filter and the block yeah? and then i connect the sender to that and i will get a proper reading? i'll take it off u if thats the case!

yep - fit the sender that came with the gauge and it should work correctly.

Exactly....sump is a s**t place to take the reading from anyway especially temp.

never fitted one myself, but saw some instructions for a oil pressure gauge and it did expect you to drill the sump and fit the sender...

obviously you wouldnt point it downwards.. LOL

Dan,
thats right i i jus the plugged the cable from the gauge into the sender unit using a spade connector. as soon as the inginition is turned it shoots up and past 7Bar!!! my only thought is that the sender unit of the block is not suitable for the gauge i bought which is why they send u a separate one. but i dont think there any way it will fit the the place of the original sender, its twice the size lol

any thoughts?
also why do people get so agressive on here???????????? whats the anger for were all here to help eachother!!?? correct me if im wrong

Amir

Just wire in some Valver dials.. get a top dash, centre dials and get them in - only way really.. it'll be much better as it's all factory etc.

Well I certainly wouldn't locate any oil sensor in the sump lol

Amir

people get agressive when they think they know it all and are above everyone else

may be a stupid question here as im not familiar with your engine, but have you got the right connection/got it wired in correctly??

you're easiest option as someone said would be to get teh valver dials to suit the standard sender.

it will work on a different scale/signal to the aftermarket one you have bought - hence why the aftermarket one has its own sensor, to send signals that will give a correct reading on the gauge.
