high oil pressure depends on a couple of things;
oil specification - whether its too thick or
oil pressure bypass valve - this works via a spring and plunger, when the oil pressure gets high enough, the spring strneght os overcome, and the oil is diverted back to the sump, before it reaches any critical areas like seals, etc
i run valvoline racing 20w50 oil in my williams (its treacle thick when cold). oil pressure is in tip top conditon, never going really high. i doubt its an oil thickness problem.
a new oil pump is £50, which is a brand new item, with new gears, oil pressure switch, etc. its a simple job to replace.
