Oil Problem

  clio 1.2
When starting the car the trip computer normally says "Oil OK
Started it today and it says;

"-------"
OIL

so does this mean i need to get some new oil...if so whats the type of oil i need to get?? and how much would it cost??

cheers

Start off by checking your oil level on the dip stick, under the bonnet. Never ever rely on the car to tell you if it's ok at all.

The words 'Oil level' will appear regardless of what the levels at, then hit the button ont the odometer and it'll show you the level. If its just lines --- as opposed to 000s it needs topping up mate. Make sure the cars on level ground.

Eg.

Oil level full 00000
Oil level half full 000---
Oil level empty ------ (will also flash at you)

EDIT-As Cat said, don't rely on the electronic dipstick, its inaccurate.

You sure you don't press the millage reset thing on the odometer not the stalk, or is that an RS thing?

I'd check your oil as it's saying it's low.
