Oil Temp Sensor

Right lads, does anyone know where the oil temp sensor is on the engine or indeed why my oil temp gauge has died. Ive looked in the haynes manual and the only thing i can find is the oil level/temp sender in a wiring diagram in the back, but that doesnt tell me where it is. My oil level and pressure gauges seem to be ok.

Any ideas?

Its on the front of the block just above the block/sump flange on the right hand side, the wiring plug is on the brace bare for the inlet manifold. You can get at it from underneath if you have the right open ended spanner. The sensor is about 150mm long and goes down into the sump. I think it was about £55 ish from Renault. It didnt work on mine as someone had smashed the end off!

Hope this helps

Down and to the right. The sender to the left of the filter is the oil warning light switch(about £10), impossible to change unless you have a v.deep reach socket or take the oil cooler or power steering pump off. All you can see of the sender is a little brass bolt head with two(or three) wires coming out, not far from where the inlet manifold brace bar mounts to the block. Happy hunting:)
