And should it be using oil as its 500 miles off its first service and the oil level is very low?

yes dynamique 65 bhp on a 51 plate. Yes hasnt used much oil at all, even checked on the dipstick because the dash display only went down by one marker in 18k.

car likes it tyres though!

f**k mines down to the last notch on the digital display on the dash damn car

What the fcuk would be causing it to use the oil then???? cause its only recently that it has started doing this since about 14k last time i checked the level and it was only a notch down.

Well i was gonna ring this week and book it in for a service and get all the faults sorted under warrenty.

I looked under the engine bay there now and found the Plug disconnected from the airflow meter so maybe that could have had some effect?

jon_r I have to agree why is it the little diesel goes through tires that quick. I swoped mine round at 13k cos the front were really low my escort did 20k or so without as much wear at all and i think i drive them the same.

Mine hasnt used any oil though in 16k and i dont intend to buy any. Id just go in and play the idiot to Renault saying some oil light light was flashing in the car and for them to look at it.

Well changed the front tyres (Conti) at 13k. Needed to change the rears at 23k - last month. Put new ones on front and the fronts on the back! Hope you follow.

At £60 a tyre 185-55-15 it is not cheap. I put it down to the heavy engine, or how much i enjoy chucking it into bends!

Still ive heard the Contis are quite soft.

I used Castol Magnatec GTD in my car when I changed the oil at around 11k... then I just let Renault change it to whatever they change it to in the 18k service (Elf? dunno). The car has never lost any oil though at all, never needs topping up. Almost on 20k now.
