Ok Problem!

Just recently had a new cluch cable fitted after the last snapped! anyway now somtimes its really hard to get in gear especially 1st and 2nd at low speeds or at standstill. now its generally ok when cold but after driving arround for a while i get the problems!

anyone got any thaughts on why or could it be that they just didnt fit the cable properly?

you mean you get slip in 1st and 2nd?

maybe then the cable isnt fitted properly or maybe youve burnt the clutch- but this i doubt...

mine did this at first but the self adjuster adjusted after a week and it got much better

the biting point does occasionally change though and thats because of the cable moving about cos they just tie-wrapped it on and it moves about

No its not slipping just wont go into gear and when it does it crunches a little its as if it doesnt disengage when i press the cluch!

ohhh... becoming quite complicated - Im not sure i understand what it is all about... to make sure:

you press the clutch and it works (disengages...=the revs fall down immediately?) but You cant engage the gear? and You feel some tension on the lever, and gears are "not wanting" to go in?

then its the box probably.. im having mine fixed and I had similar symptoms (apart from the main reason which was different, but this doesnt matter) now...

the 1 & 2 gear wheel bearings on the rod in the box are probably ending their life. Id think of synchro too...

If the clutch works=disengages, and if its hard to get into gear then its great possibility that (unfortunately) im right

Go to somebody who has knowlege of boxes let him try... and prob. you will need to have Your box fixed.

I wish I am wrong and it will repair itself...

nope some of what u said is true but some not!

I dont think the cluch is disingageing and thats why i cant get it in gear! its really strange because b4 the cluch cable snaped about 2 weeks ago it was all fine not a problem!

the reason i think that is is because if i sit at the lights in 1st and i depress the cluch as far as it will go and let of the break (on a flat road) it moves forward as if when u let the cluch up to the biteing point if u get my meaning!

its either the cable is not on the pedal properly or the self adjuster is knacked

unlikely to be the box if it was fine before

good good Spoke to the guys at the garage and looks like they may have fitted the wrong cable! MUPPETS!

But if not may be the cluch! i hope not thatll cost me!

Its there fault not yours you should not have to pay anything more.

could it be they routed the cable wrong, as in the route its going is too long? Also check the clutch end of the cable, make sure the plastic bit is sitting correctly

ok the guy at the garage says the cable is the right one so recons the cluch is on its way out! but this makes no sence to me as it was fine b4 the cable went ping , how can the cable snapping screw the cluch/

So anyone know of any renault specialists near Gloucester (Bristol for those who dont know where that is)
