OK, so what next?

Rich would be proud of me (almost), spent 8 hrs cleaning the car today,
Cleaned arches and wheels, AG degreaser and motorbike cleaner (yes I have a bike and AGMBC is great for bikes ,alkaline)
autoglym shampoo'd, bodywork(with Shmitt sponge and 2 bucket method!)
NO CLAY (still scared of that)
ARP
EG (only one coat, running out of time and weather)
1 Coat P21s (puchased from John at C&S plus microfibres and Megs APC, great guy, very helpful)

Car looks fab, so do I now keep washing till it stops beading then re apply if so what do I need to re apply, all , or just EG and P21s, car does about 16K a year.

Going to try to do the inside tomorrow (8Hrs and still havent got to the inside yet!) to get rid of the silicone I posted about previously ( and got good advice, cheers guys)

BTW with regards to APC mix, 10-1 for wheels, arches, sills. 4-1 for interior, is that correct?

Knackered back, tired arms but great result. Thanks to the CS forum :)

Any advice would be great.

Cheers

Try using 10:1 first that way if its not strong enough you can go stronger

Personally your efforts would have had a better result had you clayed .. if you follow advice you will find it almost impossible to do any damage and that way the base is ready for the top coats. I bet it looks good tho some good products used

Thanks "The Big Yin" got the concentration on APC the wrong way round:eek: I will definately try clay, just need to look into it a little more and make sure I don't c**k it up and damage the paint, I've seen comments of using "quick detailer" as lubricant etc, clear as mud to a noobe like me. But as you say still very happy with the results, just doesn't feel like glass i.e that flat. 8 out of 10 I'd give it.

Thanks for your pointers

I did my Dad's car today and just used half a bottle of warm water, some average shampoo and a little of each of the 3 QDs I have to lubricate the clay and worked excellently. Only managed one layer of JEffs spray sealant and one 50/50 though due to the weather, but looked simply awesome. The Porsche's paint just seems to have more reflection in it, and the contours of the car, especially the bonnet and front end, look sexual.

That reminds me, it is 1.40.... why am I on here?! God I am sad... time for some p**n.

I find Megs PAC 10:1 sorts most things.

With the clay as long as the surface has plenty of lubrication and the clay is soft and warm you should be fine. Don't use loads of pressure, let it glide on it's own.

I dont use the QD with it though. Wash and rinse the car, re soap the panel with a wash mitt. Mix up some car shampoo and water in a spray bottle spray that on the panel and clay away more safely than with QD.

To late now but I would have been inclined to get 2 or 3 layers of EGP on before topping with wax, No biggy though just look to try and get a coat of wax on once a month now. Maybe get a nice QD with some Carnuba in to use after washing in the meantime.

Ok guys, I had better go for it on the clay front as suggested. Would sonus green clay be a good start for a beginner?

Also, Rich, you suggested a QD with caranuba either of these any good?

Also If I wait a month or so for the P21s to wear off can I then add a couple of EGP coats to get up to "scratch" or should I clay and start again: Clay/ SRP/ EG (3 coats!) then P21s and keep topped up with QD (whichever one advised)

Thanks again for all the help, If it wasn't raining I'd be cleaning! so sorry for the further questions.

Cheers

Sonus green or Megauiars Quik Clay will both be fine.

To reapply the EGP you would need to re SRP really. As said I would just top up the P21s now until you decide you want to repolish and add more layers next time. With nicer weather months coming you will be fine.

QD wise my fave choices are:

Wont go wrong with any of them.
