Old people driving Clio sports

  BMW E36 328i Sport
This is the second time in 2 days I've seen old people driving a Clio sport what's the deal with it? Was heading to the gym on Wednesday night ad saw an old guy driving a standard black 172 he had White hair and I would guess was over 60. Next day on the way home from work I see a woman 50+ I would guess in a black 172 sitting in traffic. It wasn't the same car as I looked at the reg was different, I was thinking of putting up a spotted post when but then I saw the driver.

Why would they buy a cs over a 1.2 ? Just for the leather?

Theres an old women who drives a very tidy standard 172 flamer in the town near me, I always see her in Morrisons (other supermarkets available ;) )

There was a guy on here that bought a BG 182 from an old fella with 8k miles on it iirc, or i could have been 3k miles not 100% sure..

So when you are old does that mean you are going to stop driving fast cars and buy a metro?

Stupid observation imo

More ‘old people’ driving Renault Sport models = less ‘crashed my Clio’ posts on CS.

Haha true, they are the future then its decided!

I have to say, if my nan traded in her 1.nothing Honda Jazz for a cliosport I would high five her

Wonder what the reaction would have been if this thread was entitled "Black people driving Clio sports"

Remedial Thread

Wasn't there an old chap on here with a trophy? He said the main reason he bought it was because it was red and his wife liked the colour. I can understand what the OP means a lot of them may not get used to their full potential but it's just a car at the end of the day.

There is an old guy I regularly see driving a 182 cup, with a private plate beginning with "Y5", up and down the A12. To put it lightly, he is a right nob end. Last week he tailgated me for the better part of 5 miles, then tried to overtake me even though I was turning right. I saw him on the A12 by Colchester once weaving in and out of traffic and generally just bullying people out the way, I was appalled tbh.

I did have chat with another old dude at Weeley petrol station about his new 200, he was telling me about his RS Clio history. He seemed nice enough :p

cruise, leather, climate, xenons.

all in a hatchback that's not terrible on fuel?

I'm sold...what's that, it's got some power, well that's lovely

I like to think they are keeping them so when ours are f**cked there are still some nice, low mileage ones knocking about! They'll be classics in 10 years! :)

I remember reading about an old dear who had bought the top of the range (as implied above) Metro (MG Turbo). She took it back to the dealers as she said, "when the revometer (sic) gets to 12 o'clock, the car starts whistling and the accelerator peddle get stuck. Can you have a look please."

If people actually read my post I didn't say I had a problem with old people driving them they just aren't exactly the target market so wondered why these people had them. When I reach that age I wouldn't go for a cs I don't think, I'd go for something more "grown up"

Then that's your problem.

Yeah it still comes off slightly pretentious. To be honest having gotten to that age and having money to burn im gunna get a car i cant afford now, or something ive always wanted. Like a cossie, or an impreza.

I get what you mean like but I think it is just that they're top of the range models, I can't really say what I was gonna about older ladies using them to go shopping and whatnot lol, the leather, climate, cruise etc why's been mentioned is appealing to people like that

Older people probably looking at young folk in clio sports and wondering - why dont they go out and buy a proper sports car instead of running around in old biddy style hatchbacks

My Dad (65) still owns my old 182 and it still very rarely doesn't see the redline.

And no that isn't because he is slipping the clutch round Waitrose car park ;)

When I pulled into a petrol station on the way back from work yesterday, to get a picnic (nom), an older looking man was stood watching my car.

As I rummaged for some coinage I looked back up and he was still stood there. Anyway I get out and he is like wow is this the cup?! I was like nah. Basically ended up standing by my car chatting about various rs models and how he used to have a trophy.

Was quite surprising but pleasant...

Anyway I see loads of elderly couples driving them, I think they just like the comforts you get in a top spec model, and smoking young'n's at the lights

THIS. This is the reason old people should not drive Clio Sports.
