Exaplain it to me sorry im guessing sounds newbie ish bu always see ppl "i was on cam" when talking about racing and sh*t. thought it was somthink to do with Revs/gear change.......
they mean: in cars like the valvers etc, that need to be at the magical 4500rpm before they want to play, so at that point in the rev range the car comes on cam, and is ready to accelerate hard to 7k onwards
eg. going around a large roundabout in 2nd gear at about 4k revs so as soon as your coming off you can power on to the straight
It applies to any engine where the cam is of a design which means that it will come on cam.
Its hard to explain, but its a feature of cylinder head flow and port velocities and cam timing. Its got nothing to do with engine size or the number of valves.
