its where the powerband is at its optimum, basically you keep it at 4.5k in a valver, and accelerate and power is there at its peak..capiche?

by on cam

they mean: in cars like the valvers etc, that need to be at the magical 4500rpm before they want to play, so at that point in the rev range the car comes on cam, and is ready to accelerate hard to 7k onwards

eg. going around a large roundabout in 2nd gear at about 4k revs so as soon as your coming off you can power on to the straight

hope this helps

not very good explanation mind!

its the phenomenon where the cam profile starts to work with the engine rpm and inlet velocity.

The engine efficiency suddenly increases when the engines comes on cam.

Could go on for hours, but no point.......

nice1 is this just for larger engines?

or applies to lil 1.4s aswell? coz i find the most power comes in at 3K and loses it at 5

It applies to any engine where the cam is of a design which means that it will come on cam.

Its hard to explain, but its a feature of cylinder head flow and port velocities and cam timing. Its got nothing to do with engine size or the number of valves.
