One job done another one created

  RS Clio 182
I sent my 182 into my local Renault garage today for a cam belt change.

Got the phone call to go and pick it up, I was very pleased they had no issues and didn't report anything else that might have needed repairing whilst doing the job.

However. I got out of my car a little later and noticed that the bonnet looked a little raised so I tried to open it but to no avail. The catch wouldn't release until I had my girlfriend hold the catch in whilst i gently lift the bonnet. This seemed to do the trick to get it open but hasn't actually fixed the problem, not obvious what is causing the catch to not release so Renault will be getting a phone call in the morning to sort it out.

The car does seem to run better now and definitely gives me peace of mind knowing it has been done but really annoyed they gave me the car back with a bonnet that doesn't open

They should have replaced the catch free of charge under a recall if its not been done already.

Mine got replaced for free a couple of years ago when they issued a recall,
if you keep the Renault database updated with you current address they told me they'd replace it every couple of years.

I wont be giving them any money to fix the problem, I know it was working fine before it went in there. I have only had the car for about 2 months so not sure if the catch has ever been replaced :-S find it hard to believe they would send a car out of the garage like that they must know they will be getting a phone call to correct it. Might have expected that from a local garage but not Renault who charge top prices

I have this exact issue. I've played around with the catch and hinges to no avail. Keen to hear what the solution is.

That's what Renault told me! I didn't believe it either but apparently it's what the computers say...

I took the car back into Renault today and they had to drop me back at work as they need more time to sort it. The front end of the car is coming off again apparently as it certainly doesn't seem to be a quick fix for them, I am now car-less until Friday. Lucky I cycle to work!

I take it this is Harwoods Renault? I know a couple of them down there. One of the old boys has worked for Renault since the mid 80s lol.

Im sure they will sort it out and someone will get a kick up the arse.

It's only 4 or 6 bolts depending if they bothered to do the two lower one on the slam panel.

Or even 2 just to adjust the catch! They could of done it in 15 mins while you waited!
