Onkyo 606 ...best way to setup?

Ive just bought a Onkyo 606 amp to replace my Sony i had before.

The onkyo seems sooo much more complex to the Sony and could do with a little help on the connections for each of my components

Ive got a Sky HD box
Xbox 360 (component)
DVD recorder with scart RGB + component /s video

Ive also got a Optoma Hd700x projector which has s-video/HDMI/VGA and component in as well as an adapter to go from scart to VGA

Id ideally like the xbox and and sky HD box connected to both my TV and projector....Would i need a splitter for this to output to both?

Also Say im going from the xbox straight to the projector is it best to go through the amp first or bypass it all together?...same with sky HD

Also any help with how its best to connect it all up would be much appreciated as Ive got no idea

Thanks

i have an identical setup, onkyo 606, optoma hd700x, and lcd tv.

you need a 1 input, 2 output hdmi splitter box.

you are best off having everything going through the amp, if you connect straight to the projector or straight to the tv then one of the 2 won't be able to display whatever device you have connected to the other.

be aware that both the tv and the projector will need to run identical resolutions if you are using a pc with it (unless you wanna fiddle about swopping resolutions every time you switch between the tv and the projector). the optoma has a native resolution of 1280x720.

OK thanks.

Ill link it all through the receiver then

Is this suitable for splitting the HDMI do you think:http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....m=280272284282&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=018

Ive not connected my pc up to the PJ yet but will be doing with my blu-ray drive on the way.

Did you have to set that custom res wih somthing like powerstrip or did it auto detect it at 1280x720?

Thanks

my ati catalyst control centre allowed me to force that resolution.

that adapter won't do what you want to do. i have an identcal adapter as i bought it thinking the same as you, it causes problems when you use it.

you need a proper splitter box like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1080P-1-Input...14&_trkparms=72:1301|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318
