i know last year i was looking at buying similar devices for downstairs , the issues i had was possible divx xvid not working , but providing u can update firmware this shouldnt be a issue , in end i just stook with pc hooked upto tv .

In then End I whacked Yellow Dog on my PS3 and VLC and jobs a good un.

I was in the same situation and the PS3 with Linux installed is an ideal solution. Definitely worth £199 towards the PS3 price.
