Opinion on these alloys please?

Firstly guys I am in line for some second hand oz Ultraleggera's in Graphite, but they are still expensive.

I have alos been look at Turini's in anthracite second hand but no one seems to have any

..both are too expensive new for me with tyres, so I was wondering if there was any alternatives, particularly something that look a bit like Turini's

What do you guys think of these? I think they will fit my Clio but I am not totally sure just yet. If anyone can confirm this that would be great

Firstly, I'm not a fan of the coloured rim (and I would paint this a more discrete colour!)

and I know some consider wolfrace a chav brand,

but £470 with budget tyres the seem decent value compared to Turini's



Id you do dislike them it might be worthwhile knowing if you also dislike Turini's

I would'nt have them on mine but then i'm not a big fan of Turini's.

If you like them then thats a good enough reason to buy them mate.

I'm trying to imagine them without the red rim at the moment.

I guess the real people to judge these are Turini lovers as I'm looking at them as they'd give a similar look but for £300 less

Do you really want budget tyres on your car? I think multifit alloys look cheap, if you want Turinis save up and get some with decent tyres but i'm sure if you wait a 2nd hand set will pop up.

it's not just the look though - it's the weight. Turini's are expensive because they are lightweight and therefore aimed more towards motorsport. OZ are the same (lightweight)

Wolfrace wheels are generally very heavy, leading to more unsprung weight which will make your car slower at accelerating.

what about Pro-Race 1.2s? they are multispoke wheels, kind of similar to Turinis (not quite as nice imo) but they are cheaper to buy

but if they get slated don't let that put you off.
At the end of the day your the one driving it.

I know what you mean about multifit. I'm on a tight buget as just got a house and the car. I've aloted a bit of money to make the car my own and £500 is my absolute limit, so yes budget tyres.

I can get some graphite ultraleggeras in mint condition second hand for £460 with 3.5mm tread on the front and 6mm on the read - all tyres Mitcheen PE2's...gonn need new fronts though soon...a lot of people change at 3.5mm anyway as breaking begins to be affected from their onwards

I doubt it would help you save more than £20 fuel over the year, does it really give a noticeable performance improvement (to a normal pleb like me thats not putting it on the track)

this is what I am finding with the ultraleggeras. Oz have purposely from what I gather reduced the flow of them into stockists by greatly increasing their price.

You used to be able to get 4 with budget tyres for about £650, now you are looking at £700-£900 just for the wheels in graphite. A few dealers I spoke to are purposefully not stocking them until they put the price back down.

hardly makes me feely I'm getting value for money....I mean I'd be buying them off the lad, whos had them for over a year, their on their second set of tyres which are worn and used but he'd be selling for about £100-£150 less than he got them!

If your not going on track days or have a heavy foot then
theres probably no point, i've just got a bit addicted to
power to weight ratio.

But then if I wanted a cheap car to run thats still quick
I would have stuck with my Golf GT TDI 4Motion.
I just got a bit bored with it.

I'm not bored with my clio yet and i'm nearly 3 years in now

The above wolfrace alloys are 6.9kg!

i've actually been thinking if that should be the first thing I should do if i get them - put the 3.5mm on the back and the 6mm on the front.

I need to put a lot of money into the house in the next few months so Ideally I don't want to be having to get new boots for my clio that soon.

the standard size. Whatever they were when I bought the car about a month ago. Don't think they are anything special and I think there is more than one brand on. I know the rear are two different brands anyway

I plan on selling the original alloys on (they are the original 172 alloys)

Why don't you have a go at refurbig them yourself? Would only cost 50is quid. I'm pretty sure alot of places will also do the Pro Races to your spec for pretty much the same price.

You could just buy the first cheap second hand set of wheels you
like in any colour and then have them re-sprayed or powder coated?

Not sure on prices of re-spray or coating though?

do you not like the standard 172 alloys then? could spend a few quid and refurb them in Anthracite if you do?

that's what i'll do if i cant source some Superlegg's or Turini's in the next month or so (mine are standard 182 wheels)

No not a fan of the standard alloys. too much metal for me. Disliked four spokes and lots of metal since my first car (a Citroen AX GT)
Fair comments about the refurbs and powder coating.

My house kind of keeps me busy enough so am just wanting something I can stick on, not that I need to refurb myself or send away for refurb and pay postage twice - I don't know anywhere that refurbs alloys in south cumbria (in the sticks)

They look nice, BUT multi-fitment looks puts me off. I'd presonally find a set like that but not in multi-fitment, or save up for the wheels want (or find a nice set s/h)

Tbh you won't get a better deal than the ultra's with your budget. Madness to spend more on wheels then have budget tyres on.

Unlikely to get a set in those colours and if you do unlikely that they will be mint so would need refurbed anyway. Would be ~£150 to get them done
