Opinion on this lens



For that price you're not going to get amazing optics, and it's not particularly fast. But if the reviews are good and you like sample photos from it then go for it.

What alternatives are there?

Was thinking that, and have finally found some owners reviews on it and people have been reporting purple fringing(?), presume thats purple light leaking into the image?

Alternatives are a Canon IS for £400 or a sigma for £175
 
No purple fringing is this:

You can get rid of it, and if you arent blowing pics up that big it shouldnt be a problem either.

Looks to take decent enough pictures, cant see any imperfections so to speak.

Might pop down and try it out tomorrow, can always sell it on if i dont like it :)

EDIT: Also, you used the kit lens for that pic :rasp:
