After my thread about the Audi tt 225 quattro i thought i would get an opinion on the audi i have my eye on and are in talks with the guy over.

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2417603.htm

Had belts changed in the last 4,000 miles at awsome GTI, spoke to him and he said mechianically its sound as a pound.

Tax runs out end of april and MOT runs out middle of may.

Also not mentioned on there, its been remapped to 260-265bhp

Overpriced, crap colour and needs lowering. Rear lights are guff and the turbo badge looks chavvy.

Apart from that, nice car.

Wheels are coming off and ill be lowering it ( if i do buy it) lights are just a film so was going to remove them and on the front. Badge would also come off aswell. As for the colour i like it.

Was mainly the price i was looking at opinions on :)

Its worth £4k.

Ph1, looks terrible, povvo colour, half leather, etc etc.

For that money, you want a 2004 model, not 2001 lol.

Look back through my old threads, i had a mint 2003 225 coupe in mauritius blue, with silver leather, & sat nav (rare) - i paid 5600.

Looks a little bit tacky imo, i personally would not pay more than 4k for that, i would be aiming for something like daniel posted. However if you like it then go for it!

Sign up to http://www.tt-forum.co.uk, plenty of cheaper and well looked after ones on there. Gave me a lot of advice when I had mine, best car I've ever had (and I have had a few!). Make sure the timings been done on anything over 50k miles, along with the water pump replaced, (standard ones have plastic implellers that like to shear off ) and the haldex service done. Look best with V6 bumpers and standard 18inch mulitspokes IMHO, non audi alloys and big bodykits are not the way forward.

I dont know jack about TT's so cheers for your comments back but looking on pistonheads, for the miles on the clock there isnt anything less than 6k.

Wheels on the one i posted dont help it at all but there coming off, i asked the guy if he would take £7,000 and he ummm and ardddd and said a dealship had offered him 6,900 for part ex, which i thought was abit high not even knowing anything about them

Book price is £3800 trade, so i very much doubt that lol ...

Essentially, you want a post '02 '3 bar grille' model, they come with the 18" RSTT alloys & 'S-Line' suspension as standard. The earlier ones don't handle anywhere near as well, & dont look as nice either.

Then leave it standard, bar a map, & you have a very good everyday car imho.

Join the TT Forum, but bear in mind they try to keep the prices high in the for sale section.

Mileage isnt an issue as long as the cambelt/water pump has been done at 60k, along with the Haldex as & when required. Also be wary of the dashpod breaking, tell tale sign is that the fuel guage/range to empty dont match up. Costs about £400 to fix these days via BBA Reman.

Not sure what your budget is, but if i were buying again, id be buying something like this:

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2439571.htm
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2286986.htm

In addition, if you are serious about buying any VAG car, get hold of a copy of VAG-COM, allows you to read all the fault codes/live readings on the car. Obviously helps you to find out if the car you're looking at is a nail/aids bargaining if you find fault codes, etc.

Hope that helps :)

Cheers mate, much appreciated :)

2 questions, how much would a remap and an exhaust ( miltek) cost ?

Does milage really not matter ? 105,000 miles seem alot for a petrol even if it is an audi.

P.s just joined the TT forum :)

Maps via TT forum are about £250-£300 iirc, & a Miltek is roughly the same 2nd hand.

With German barges, im always more concerned about how the cars been looked after/used than mileage. My TT had 93k on it when i bought it, i put another 5k on it in a month (lol!!) and it was perfectly fine, & a car that i miss more than most. Sarah's is currently on 86k (we bought it on 60k) and again, its faultless. Never had any problems with her mums V6 either.

The 1.8T 'quattro' is a very well proven engine/drivetrain that is also used to great effect in the Audi S3 (same car underneath) and there's loads of them floating around with 175k + on them :)

That looks awful.

Wrong colour, wrong interior, awful wheels and gashtastic lights and badge.

...and the steering's sh*te.
