Hiya, I’ve got a mk1 1.4 RT which is a great little run around, the thing is I want something with a bit more power and response.



Just after you opinions really on what you think.




Sell RT and get a mk1 172
Sell RT and get a Valver
Keep the RT and change engine for a Valver, which I can get done really cheap.

I went from a 1.4RT to a mk1 172 so I would say 1.

Yes like the idea of a MK1 172, just gotta think of the insurance as i am 18 almost 19

If you can afford insurance for the 172, then Id say get one, should be less maintenance than a valver or williams since its quite a bit newer.

depends on your available $$$

if u got the money, then obviously a 172 but if not, i wouldnt bother with valver conversion.....may as well buy a valver n get the better brakes/interior/exterior etc mate.insurance only group 12 too compared with 16 for the 172

alot of people seem to stick gt turbo engines in an RT!!! that would be kool keep all you 1.4 badges, thatll be a pretty kool sleeper

I wouldnt bother with the valver conversion, unless you have a complete valver as a donor car, so you can swap the brakes etc.

iirc, you still wont be able to fit the rear beam though.

I would defo buy a 172 if I could, but at 18, the insurance could sting a little!
