Orbisoud RR Results

Anybody ever done a back to back RR test with standard vs orbisoud system for the 182?

I'm thinking of going custom exhaust and the one the company makes looks identical to the orbisoud so looking to see what sort of gains I'd Get

cool points dont make you go faster though lol, the system I'm after is the same as Austin-182's, apart from I will be running a de-cat aswell.

If anything the one I get will be better than an orbisoud, the guy who does them (AAS) increases the width on any bends to keep the flow rate up, I think all of his systems are bench tested before fitting anyway

So they are not mandrel bent?

Not sure mate just know he makes extremely good exhaust systems and generally good at bending bits of metal lol, he does loads of different fabricating.

Aas are custom but he will keep the same design throughout each 182 exhaust he does I imagine

What exactly are you expecting from just an exhaust? The gains are going to me minimal!

Mr Hunter says 50bhp so I'm guessing around that?

No in all seriousness I was informed a few times the orbisouds are the best system for the 182, its a more straight forward looking system without the need for unnecessary bends (IMO) on other well known systems, I can only see this restricting the flow.

I got good gains from the 172 with the BTB system so I'm hoping the same with this, if anything the weight saving should make some difference to performance, with a de-cat it should make it a bit more torque mid range which would be nice

I'm guessing on the 182's you're probably not going to gain anymore than 5-8bhp with a decat and full system

So will i very shortly ;)
Still need a blast out in it mate, love how quiet yours is, will sound even better with a de-cat....how much is he charging you??? Are you going by the strict understanding its for motorsport use only

Your more likely be to nearer the Renault base figure with it yeah, although at our RR day a while ago the 182's were even more underpowered than the 172's in general but its all relative though. I would just get a base figure as your car is now and go back when the exhaust has been fitted to see if its actually made a difference, which I doubt it realisticly would without some other mild breathing mods + a decent remap. A de-cat & BTB pipe with no other mods your probably on around 175-180bhp depending how good your factory inlets are.

Looking like an Orbisound is one thing, performing like one is another though surely?

Was one for sale on cliotrophy anyway, why not just buy the real thing ;)
AAS are not a copy of orbisound? They are custom exausts, i dont know if stuey at aas even knows what the orbisound are.... Heres some pics of mine

Lol it will be for off road use only
£100 for the decat, could but one for about 50-60 but at least this will
Be perfect fit to the system
Itl be noisy with the decat, cant wait to hear the sound
Anytime pick, am sure c davies had a bit sport the other nite, is his 57 plate?

I know he opens the pipes wider to give better flow, if you look at my pics its basicly a strate pipe till the back end wich then has minimal bends to the backbox, some systems look like climing frames which like chris says surely only reatricts the flow
I cant remember how wide the pipes are on my aas but i think he said 2 nd a quatre inch, i may be wrong though

Looks like a 2.5" mate, i know that's what I want to run. My point was the design (from what I've seen) looks similar to the orbisoud

I'm hoping it will make a bit of improvement with a de-cat.

Greeny - I ran a de-cat only with my standard system for ages, it seemed to improve performance, then when the BTB was fitted it clearly improved the flow and made a good difference mid range to top end.

I'm hoping with the AAS exhaust, de-cat, matched inlets, itg panel, cams (possibly) and custom map from RS tuning I will either be looking at 180-185bhp (fingers toes and everything else crossed) or 190-195 bhp with cams.

It's really the drivability I want from it so I'm hoping I will get a good improvement in torque across the range
