original HU code missing

hello, how are you mats?

right now on my 2001 clio PH1 172 I have pioneer HU with steering control not working. I bought from guy over here the special lead that return the steering control but he told me he think that it only work with alpine HU.
when I bought the car I got the original cassette player and CD changer.
1) Is it right that the special lead work only with alpine HU?
2) I red somewhere that if I want to reconnect the original HU I need special code that I don't know. where I get it from? is it written on the HU?
3) how good the original HU are? let's say compare to alpine 9855?

The cable you have will probably only work with an alpine head unit but you can buy pioneer cables aswell.
if you reconnect your head unit you will need a code which you will find on a sticker on the inside of your service booklet.
the original head units are pants in my opinion and dont really compare to alpine 9855
