original radio - no sound:(

hi fellas
i got a radio from a friend ages ago just put it into my 1.2 today.

it's the original radio with the lcd in the radio itself(eg no seperate display)

but im getting no sound from the radio??
tried it in my 172 as well but no sound either

any ideas?
