Out with the old, in with the new

Before Daniel has a coronary about me asking for detailing advice without a new car thread... see attached.

I fell out of love with the Westfield after a series of seemingly poor mechanic choices. Major works bring it up to spec oct19-dec19 only for them to c**k up coolant bleeding and it blew it’s head gasket. I had the “best in the business” out to resolve on my drive but it still wouldn’t restart. Then took it to “the best” Surrey based 7 specialist who disappeared for 13 weeks and finally it came home.

A brilliant car - mind bending at 6am on a Sunday without caffeine - but not right for me as the only fun toy.

With the arrival of my son 11 weeks ago, the standard mk6 golf was also becoming too small. So I opted to throw both out and welcome in a new breed. It’s just landed in Italy after a very easy export transaction.

Tvr chimaera 400, 47k Miles, a few breathing modifications but importantly solid underneath + preventative maintenance done such as fuel and coolant lines, water pump etc.

Golf all-track 2lTDI 184. Yes it’s a golf, yes it’s an estate golf, yes it’s a dsg estate golf and yes it’s faux by four dsg estate golf. My wife won’t drive anything new-to-her or larger (taller and wider) and the previous gen has done us proud for Lakes and Norf trips. Dad has the Passat alltrack which is incredible and cavernous but more than we need.

Not that exact one as the VW dealer are sorting a few options on mine but they have delisted it from the ad sites. I’ve also traded in our old golf. Having always said I’d not wish to lose out going down the dealership trade in route, for a few £££ the experience of selling even sporty cars like the Z4M really made me nope out of there sharpish.

I’ll let you know how mind numbing but capable the golf is and when the Tvr has more of a s**t fit than a slight leak;

Love it ive always wanted a tvr and always fancied a cerbra 4.5. For pure noise reasons but unfortunately never got round to it as i found my way into turbocharged jap crap and race cars

f**k all this, that’s a green Alpina B10 3.4.

HARD ON.
I actually thought the OP had bought the Alpina and was just really bad at taking photos....in all seriousness got to love a Trevor. My mates dad has one and it sounds epic. Great purchase.

Beautiful purchase! Staying as is? Dare I say wheels could be better? Not sure if colour or style?

Sir, *doffs cap* - staying as is in terms of looks bar... wheels. I hate them. I would like RL7s but that means £800-1000 on wheels and tyres is a five stud conversion, as the 4 studs are rocking horse Pooh. If this year keeps going as is work wise, I’ll do it. And silver!

Other than that, a damn good polish and clean.

I went and bought a golf R with a mate from a firm somewhere around Cambridge. The salesman had a griff with sagaris (I think) wheels on it. Had done a conversion also, it looked amazing (although maybe not to purists?)

I don’t know all things TVR enough to know what wheels you speak of... pics?

These are the rl7 on the Cerb. I love that they’re flat and not too fussy while still having something to them. Available in 16” as well as the below 17”.

Mate of mine had a Cerbra for a while, sounded epic, was pretty harsh ride though, was pretty quick as well, love a TVR

A few updates to the Tvr… I say a few;

- new Rl7 wheels wrapped in Michelin PS4 tyres
- new ACT intake
- new ACT cherry bomb exhaust
- Clive F y piece
- pre cats removed
- new throttle pot
- new throttle cable
- new injectors
- new coolant and heater pipes
- new fuel hoses
- plenum and rocker covers painted
- Emerald and tune by Kits&Classics + new wiring/maps/other gubbins to update and ensure reliability
- New Nitron digressive suspension
- Mew lower wood veneer facias
- New radio

I also re-coloured the seats/leather interior and re proofed the hood.

It now goes, looks and sounds exactly as I wanted.

I need to give it a decent detail and fit the larger brakes I’ve just happened upon!

The emerald fit removes all coil/amp/dizzy and wiring, with standard fit Range Rover coil packs now hidden behind the plenum, so also a much cleaner engine bay.
