Outer CV joint

Car  182 trackday racer
One of my outer CV joints seem to be on the way out. Produces a loud tapping noise when accelerating hard out of corners. Most noticable on second gear.

Im afraid a lube up wount solve the problem so I guess the joint needs to be changed. I do know Renault only sell complete drive shafts but from what Ive heard aftermarket outer CV joints are avaliable.

So my question is where and what brand?

Seems like a lot of vehicles use the same parts. Only items I find is this:

Spidan original GKN parts, Quick repair kits, No 99401 and No 99400

If I do a google search I get a hit on lots of car brands using these parts.

in that vein, have you found a supplier for GKN CVs? I've looked at their site, no obvious supplier listed, and they seem to be ignoring my request for information.

Seems to be a lot of them. Google for, item numbers 99401 and 99400 in combination with SPIDAN or GKN. They are NOT cheap though.

Did not need it mate, lifted the rubber seals and they where filled with grease. So the strange sound must origin from elsewhere.

That's odd.. I had a tapping noise too , sonetimes coming out of a curve. Was already looking out for shafts and unhappily preparing for the $$$ it would cost me. Now the problem/noise has dissapeared !?!?

yeah well for sure there IS some play going round in the front section after a lot of miles of thrashing.. May get the Mark Fish top mounts some time.

Let me know if you find the prob mate ; mine has very strangely went away but always listening for it to come back. It will, is my guess
