Outside temp

Quick one. Has anyone had the outside temp sensor pack up on mk2 172? Came back to the car after it was parked for a week and it was reading 51deg C! In Feb! This then caused the air con to come on when it was -2deg C outside. Renault have changed the sensor on warranty, but swear blind the sensor does not feed the climate control.

If you look inside your car at the interior light switch you will see a small group of holes in a circle, this is the sensor for your climate control and when you press auto it automatically reads the temp inside the car and adjusts it to what youve set it to.

The outside temp is totally seperate from this and is on your outside mirror, its a small black nipple thing on the bottom of the mirror ,it reads the temp and shows it to you in the car.Thats all

Ahem,

The outside temp is relevant to the air con. Although the climate contol is a closed loop system and work off interoir temp, the outside temp is considered as if too could, could cause the system to ice up!

Yes the incoming air temp is relevant to the air-con, but it doesnt get the feed from the wing mirror sensor.
