Paint removed via polish!!!???

  Monaro VXR/Cupra TDi
Just started polishing the new car. The body is fibreglass, it's been re-sprayed within the last year in gloss black.

Began using SRP via microfibre cloth with minimal pressure only to discover the paint was starting to rub off on to the cloth. This could be because a laquer wasn't applied at the time of spraying?

The swirl marks have begun to disappear but it seems the SRP has left a residue within the paint, thus a sort of haze/bloom has appeared. Continued to hand buff in an attempt to remove it, but efforts were in vain.:(

How can this be removed?

Thank you.:)

Sounds like single stage paint - no lacquer.

Not sure what you have done to create that bloom, I have used SRP on single stage paint lots of times. You got any other polishes to try ?

I dont have any others to try than SRP.The paint is soft, hasnt hardened.Any way this can be sorted?

Single stage paint is often soft. I would try another polish.

I used ClearKote Carnuba Moose Wax last week applied by microfibre. On looking at the cloth I could see slight paint was appearing on that also.
Is it wise to try and use another polish?

You should not get that much pain transfer when using a wax or sealant - was it alot ?

Everytime you use a polish on it you will get some paint transfer with single stage. Even a pure glaze such as Megs #7 a foam applicator will probably be causing enough bite to remove a small amount.

I know this is easy said then done, but you could do with a paint thickness gauge check to give you an idea of how much paint you have on the panels.

Sadly though the cheaper PTG will not be able to measure fibre glass.

No there wasn't a great deal of paint that came off during waxing with a microfibre.

It's just that the paint is marked from SRP ing. You can see a difference in where the SRP has brought paint off on the cloth and where it hasn't. The finish has lost some of it's reflection in the damaged areas. It's as if a residue from the SRP has been left in the paint, making it look darker and stained. No amount of hand buffing is removing it.:(

The point of measuring paint thickness is....?
