Painting Diamonds?

Hey guys, i know theres been countless threads about this already but...

im going to paint my diamonds and i was just wondering what paint would be alright for the job?

as its diamonds it doesnt have to be a perfect finish but im looking for something that will look aright?

also, when rubbing them down, do they go a different colour other than silver? ive been rubbing mine for a good 10 minutes now but its still silver, maybe i need a rougher paper?

Just take the 'chrome' shine off and make sure its smooth,
Primer 2-3 times (light coats)
1200 wet and dry
Paint colour you want 2-3 times
Lacquer 2-3 times

Thats how i do it and it comes out fine.
I also do primer 1 day, colour day after, then day after the lacquer.

i always use wet and between coats too helps the paint stick better stops flaking too.
