Painting plastic?

Hi,

My silver door handes need respraying, I want to keep them silver, can anyone recomend a good paint? Would I need to rub them down first and use a primer? Or is there a plastic paint I can use?
I am talking about the door handles inside that have the window controls on them.

Id get some 1000 grit paper, bucket of water with soap in, and holding the handel in one hand, paper in the other gently rub them down keeping plenty of water on, then dry them off, use some normal plastic primer, dust them over lighty a few times, get some silver paint, dust that on then laquer them. Or go to a breakers and buy new.

yeah i'd try and get new as you'll never get the same quality as oem and they probablt wont wear that well
