Strange title I know

But how hard is it to spray the xenon surround (the grey or black - depending on what headlight)

My headlights are grey but fancy black, no idea how hard/easy it is, or even if it is possible

Suggestions :) ?

I think you can put them in the oven to melt the adhesive holding on the front lens. then it must dismantle from the inside or just make them up, spray them and then seal them again?

the guy with the purple euro mk2 on here has done it and sprayed them purple, cant remember his name but might be worth pm'n him

Ye dont think they actually come apart, but heard of people mentioning the glue thing... have seen that euro car, anyone no the username?

yeah - it's definitely possible i know that

i've heard of people putting them in the oven but you could just try peeling the adhesive off and pulling apart perhaps?

I very much doubt you'd be able to get a Mk2 headlight open like that. Not work the risk considering the the cost anyway imo.

...dont think lusty clio is the username

this is his car...

I remember seeing people on here posting about getting moisture in the headlights so they had to open them up and re-seal them. not sure if they were xenons though i wouldnt like to put mine in the oven if i had a set. how much are they like £350:eek:

amy: didnt jack davey swap his for a set of black ones?

Tbh, f*ck attempting to take them apart just to paint the surrounds black. Effort.

He wanted to alex, but couldn't find any and then changed his mind and decided he preferred the grey

cant you just use the surrounds from non-xenon headlamps that are black instead of spraying or whatever or ar they a different fit?

Ye, I guess that is possible - good point lol

Main question is taking them apart?

Nobody seems to want to swap, will fire something up in the wanted thread maybe.

If yours are black...you are going grey ;)

i was wondering this the other day, black look so much better imo...

Bloooor did this, although it took him a while to get hold of a pair, IIRC he got an empty unit from one place and swapped some stuff on it......and got a pair, which one was cracked/chipped so he used another or something, either way he has black now!

he was going to try and open them up....luckily i managed to persuade him otherwise, lol

Knowing my luck, I would put them in the oven and forget about them, come back and there would just be a pile of melted plastic in there! lol

would not recommend it as if you screw it up, replacements are expensive.

BUT, this is normally done using your oven. Stick em in and gradually increase temperature checking the lights every so often.

OBVIOUSLY remove the ballast pack and all the rubber you can before you start and don't be too upset when it all goes wrong ;)

its all about how confident you are, i dont know about the clio h.l to be honest have thought about it tho, i done my fiesta mk6 head lights heated the rubber seal up with a hair dryer and used a bank card to move remove the seal.. when re sealing tho make sure you seal it up good and proper because any water will leak into the light, as for my succsess... only one lamp seal'd back up tidy enough for them not to leak so i had 1 misty lamp and one non misty lamp during the winter...

good luck tho,
