Paintwork cleanser

  Clio 182 cup
Hi all,

Is there a need to use a paintwork cleanser in the detailing process when using the SRP, EGP P21s combo? I have chosen these products to work with based on what I have read in the forum, but I'm unsure now if the SRP on its own is enough to prep the paintwork for EGP and wax?

I suppose I'm just wondering if the SRP is stripping away the previous layers of sealant/wax correctly, or is a paint cleaner required before the polish?

I'm also looking at claying my 182 soon, any recommendations on a particular clay bar/lubricant??

Cheers guys

Alan

SRP cleans and polishes so no need to use any other pre wax cleaner before it. As Riz says it will remove what is already on the piant.

Clasy are all much of a muchness as long as you avoid the aggressive bodyshop ones. Sonus Green or Megs Quik Clay are my usual choices.

Afaik a paint cleanser will effectively clean the paint up so making it better for the wax to bond to. If u are planning to use EGP though and a wax i would just use SRP as it has some fillers in which will help with the finish.

The megs clay bar is a good one , £12 i think of most traders quick detailing clay i think.

What wax are u using?

Cheers for the wuick replies guys. I'm using P21s riz, I think it offers a great look. May not be the most durable but I'm planning on re-applying it every month or so.

Any tips on how the clay is used, i.e. forward/backward motion, light pressure etc etc?

As long as you use a few layer of EGP before the P21s it's durability won't matter as you say.

Light pressure on the clay, any motion just use plenty of lube, make sure the clay is warm and soft and has a clean face.
