Pairing aftermarket head unit with stalk control and display

  Clio 172 Ph1
Wasn't sure whether to post in the Alpine thread on here or seperately. Chose the latter as its a specific issue.

Got an Alpine iDA-X001 the new(ish) ipod head unit as well as the BT car kit. Both work perfectly, despite rumours of the opposite going around the different forums.

Got an autoleads stalk control adapter yesterday in... *ahem*.... halfords  . The chap mentioned something about pairing the head unit to the console display.

By the time i'd installed the head unit and connect the BT etc... it was getting dark took the dash off to wire up the stalk control adapter and by that time had completely forgotten what the chap had said. Dash back on without attempting to install.

Anyone familar with this pairing process? He specifically mentioned pairing prior to putting the 3.5mm jack in the back of the head unit.

Help, please.

Cheers
S

I'm sure you just plug it in to the back of the headunit (at least thats what i did with mine) after all, all it is doing is acting as a wired remote control so it shouldn't need pairing at all. I take everything that halfords suggests with a pinch of salt.

My flat mate at uni works there and apparently they have no training, even with installing various things to peoples cars they just learn as they go along!!
