Pants my clutch

  2 CLIO 16 VALVES

I was off work sick today so my other half took the clio and on the way to work the clutch cable went, I now have to face up to the fact I need a new clutch - PANTS :( its just to heavy for the cable. So replaced the cable for now, but I cant really complain as its done 112k and still on the original clutch!!!

Welcome to my world... my clutch is massively fooked and slips big time!

Bailey, all 16v clutchs are heavey due to the way the clutch cable is routed. Theres not alot you can do about it mate.

I know that they are all heavy, but mine has become exceptionally heavy and very close to the floor it definatly needs a new clutch, the cable in it wasnt that old either mate.

not a nice job either!!!:(

they are prone to snapping, due to the cr*p design, the only way to get round it is to get the new re-designed pedal (so i was told)
another thing, people want silly money to do the clutch on a 16v, a so called renault specialist quoted me a grand !
Mr clutch, said they wouldnt touch it.

I took it else where for £400.00 odd ponds.

I can do the work myself so thats not a prob may even re-con the box while its out not that there is anything wrong with it but thinking I may as well while its out! Can also get a new genuine clutch for £40 quid I got the costings today, or a uprated one for £60 so not as bad as I thought. Well chuffed actually, doing the cambelt 2moro tho and Im told it aint nice on the valve!

Yup Valver owners get used to the heavy Clutch. Nick Hill looked at mine circa 80K and said it shouldnt be that heavy. As they wear they get tighter and heavier but you tend not to notice much as they are heavy to start with.

Then cables snap and keep snapping.

Got mine done not long after with a new cable, new clutch and about 4 hours labour by moving the subframe. It was noticeably lighter afters.

If your gonna do it yourself and want an uprated clutch, use what the 5GTT boys use...

The volvo 440/460/480 turbo clutch, its £50 from GSF, and we get club discount aswell
