Part exchange question

If I want to trade in or part ex my car which is more expensive than the one I want do garages/dealers give cash/cheque back to you? Anyone on here done this before?

Or will I have to sell my car privately?

They'll give you money your way, but expect them not to give you as much as you'd get for it privately. Personally I think you'd be best off selling privately.

Put deposit down on the car you want, some will hold it for up to 30 days, then try to sell yours for more money in those 30 days, if you can't just trade it in.
