parts for minor service

hello all,

well my car is due a minor service. as far as im aware this is simply the fluids and filters so im gonna give it a go myself. thinking of possibly doing a guide for each bit as well if you guys/glas think that would be helpful to other members (especially those who are maybe a bit less keen to have a go themselves).
my list so far includes:

*oil 5w40 stuff (is it that important to use renault branded stuff or will halfrauds is own do the job?)
*oil filter off renault
*sump plug washer off renualt
*air filter (is a new one needed or can the old one be cleaned up)

anything else enyone can think of?

thanks

does anyone actually use new sump plug washers every time they change oil??
I certinally havent done everytime. Seems ridiculous to me. Never had any problems

  learning in corsa 1.3tb
they change them as sometimes they perish. On a minor service the part u would need are, Oil, Sump plug, Oil filter, Air filter, pollen filter, and just general fluids tbh (washer fluid etc)

as well as changing the fluids (etc), don't forget the inspection service - just as important as the parts changes IMO. the full Renault schedule is in the service booklet but i can rattle it off on the keyboard and put it up here if you've not got it

with regards to the fluids is it that important to use renault branded stuff? on my previous cars i never have however after reading a few posts on this subject on here i have noticed many of you are.

checked through the handbooks folder and it seems i haven't got the service booklet, would you mind letting me know what it involves?

the following is the Renault Ph2 Clio schedule for the basic 12k/2yr interval:

Renew:
- engine oil & filter
- air filter
- cabin filter
- key fob batteries

Check/inspect:
- bodywork (just a provision of the anti-corrosion warranty)
- exhaust system (security/corrosion)
- brake pads
- brake fluid level; also check for leaks/corrosion/damage throughout circuit
- PAS fluid level; also check for leaks/corrosion/damage throughout circuit
- screen wash level
- coolant level; also check for leaks/corrosion/damage throughout circuit
- condition of rubber boots (steering and suspension)
- tyre condition and pressure
- front and rear dampers (for leaks)
- all lights (and horn)
- battery charge
- condition of w/screen, mirrors and all wipers
.
that’s the basic Renault schedule but you might want to consider including the following which (only IMO) are also sensible:
- check the AUX belt for fraying
- check suspension/steering components (fair amount to do here – have a look in a Haynes manual)
- as you would with the brake lines (etc), check all fuel lines
- lubricate all hinges (doors, bonnet, hatch, lock strikers) and the battery terminals with something suitable (eg. white grease)
- check for oil leaks from the engine&gearbox

most of it’s preventative checking really
