parts.prices and where from

Car  ph2 172
I've finally found a 182,hopefully picking it up tommorrow but it has no belt history :(

where is the cheapest place to get the cam and auxillary belt kits from at the moment?

also, should i replace the waterpump? car is on around 85k

i understand there's probably similar threads, but i want up to date prices for the parts as i'l be ordering today or monday.

cheers

The waterpump is not run by the cambelt but is run by the Auxiliary belt so not a real pain to change if the water pump should fail. If you are doing it yourself then I would change the waterpump if you are not short of cash. Phone around the traders on this forum for belt costs, it maybe cheaper than you think for them to do it, especially if you have no aircon.

No belt history ? Hope that was cheap (rhetorical).

Take it to a specialist. Dorset, is either K-Tec in the New Forest .. Carlton Garage, Exmouth .. or someone who I forget the name of in Padstow. Might be just as easy to pop up the b'ham and see Fred@BTM depending where you are.

Don't do it yourself.

im not gonna do it myself :) i have the option of k-tec or a local garage that has many years experience on renaults and has done 172/182 belts before.

but,i was going to supply the parts myself as i know there is a big mark up on the parts through garages.

ktec.. ONLY RS specialists should do the cambelt

i have'nt asked where to get it done, that is sorted.

just want to know who supplies the parts cheapest

believe me, there isn't!

plus most garages with any form of common sense wouldn't fit customer supplied belt kits, warranty minefield

it will cost you more anyway if you supply the parts Vs going to a specialist

cambelt kit £125
aux kit £135
labour of 5 hours @ £50 an hour

= £510

or £465 all in from a specialist??

no brainer
