The front weld on the cat on my 2002 172 is starting to blow, does anyone have any experience with pattern replacements like the one below;

I'm mainly worried that it would restrict perfomance in some way, I realise that a sports cat would be a decent upgrade but I'm trying to avoid spending too much on the car at the moment.
