Pay As You Go Insurance for young drivers

LMAO £1 a mile for driving after 11pm get to f*ck with that

sounds like a rip off really unless you dont drive much

not impressed with it really

who wants to do some sums and see if its any gd, based on an average of 10k miles a year

well think about if you drive in the evening after 11 which I frequently do going to clubs etc, say average 20 off peak miles a week thats

20 x 52 = £1040

then the cost of the box and all the other damn miles!

shocking, surely it cant be £1 a mile, thats just a stupid money

what if you go away, if i go away i often try 2 avoid traffic, ie leave at midnight to go alton towers, 400 miles lol ouch

^^ Yep - but then apply that to say a 182 - the insurance may cost £4k for a new driver on one of those

I wouldnt go for this if you paid me - I believe Norwich Union are on record as saying something along the lines of "Yes, it can be used to record your speed but we wont be doing this YET"...

yeah sounds pretty crap actually, i wouldnt like anything where they are actualy tracking you, i bet they could will come bak at a young driver who makes a claim saying they were able totell he was speeding when he crash etc.

Also doesnt sound like it is that cheap.

"drivers will pay more during "peak" times, between 11pm and 6amdrivers will pay more during "peak" times, between 11pm and 6am"

11-6? thats hardly peak? is that when most accidents happen statistically...? isnt it actually quieter at these times?

i do too many miles for that, and f**k paying £200 for a box i dont even want...

as for 100miles a month being free, i do up to 3000 a month... not good....

to add to that, a fair chunk of my mileage is done between 11pm and 6am, and im 19, been driving two years, and havent crashed yet...

argh, insurance companies really piss me off

id be curious to see what their policy states in terms of what these 18-21yr olds are allowed to drive. Does this mean i could insure a supercar for £1 per mile?

im REALLY interested to see what they offer - you can safely assume what im paying justnow, is ALOT better than what NUD are offering

Well i do on average about 400 miles a week, so i think ill stick with my 2k insurence.

Wonder if its the same priice on a 1.1 Fiesta as on say a DB9?

this does seem a bit of a rip off as you have to pay 200 for it in the first place. would b ok if u didnt have to pay 200 jus for the box. Bit much per mile as well i think.

imagine if its 11.10 and i need some milk for a brew, the 24 hour garage is a 4 mile roung journey.

that means it would cost £4.58 for a pint of milk after 11pm

yeah fook that, although it could be handy for my missus as she drives about 100mile a week and never after 11 as shell be in my car by then ;)

i reckon its a good idea, trials have shown it to actually work out cheaper for 18-21 year olds.

if ur car gets nicked theyll know too (not available yet).

If u crash, theyll know (they can set up a claim straight away - not available yet also).

As for the speeding issue, i reckon they couldnt enforce it, theyre not the police, however if u report a claim, and they check and see u crashed after doing 100mph, theyd be right to tell u to fook off really wouldnt they?

At the end of the day theyre trying to think of ways to briong premiums down, which is only a good thing for everyone. IMO best way to do this is to catch all the tw*ts who drive uninsured.
