Ph2 172
Hi all.
Been lurking since 2013 when I had my Twingo 1.2 TCE and always wished for a Clio 1*2! Well that got into a small accident and I lost it in February this year. Instead of getting the car I really wanted, I got wooed by a Mondeo 2.2 TDCI 155 ST which I grew to enjoy (the torque was awesome but it was like driving a boat). Gearbox on that is now knackered and a non-mover. Got some cash and needed a run-around...then found the 172! I really wanted a 182 FF but it wasn't in price range (yet) so settled with a '01 172 with 107k, lowered 30mm, stainless exhaust (a bit too loud for me!) and was in pretty decent nick.
I'll be getting some pictures up this weekend after I give it proper decent clean. I've got it booked into Diamond Motors Renault Specialists in Long Eaton on the 29th October for an inspection to see if there's anything that needs to sorting straight away. There is a knocking sound but it might be the exhaust (had a look underneath and its arse is on the floor!), so I'll try get it up on the axles and check the mounts.
There's plenty of other stuff that I'd like to do but as this is my first real time doing ANY kind of work on a car, it might be a slow job. What I would like to is repair and restore where needed and try sell it on and use the proceeds to buy a RB 182 FF!
So far I've got replacement thumb grips to fit, new fog lights (thanks @Dr Jekyll) and replacement climate control (thanks @Ads29) cos it looks like a dogs chewed it! Gonna replace a few other things interior wise, need to get a new bumper as I got cut off by a flatbed the first week having it and it took a big scrape outta the front bumper.
Sorry for the wall of text, had some downtime at work so thought I'd introduce mysen properly. Rate nice bunch of people here from what I've seen so far and I'm looking forward to hanging about! Might even drag me arse to a meet.
