PBV or not!!

Should i stick a PBV on my Willy Hybrid?

I will have a full magnex including de-cat, RamAir I/K, and a HP Chip!!

Its up to you mate. May add a few bhp. I got bout 7 extra out of mine when i had it on.

Wont need to re map the ecu tho.

Im getting one and a chip when my cars at HillPower next month.

Every car Ive been in with one on has been worth it imo.

Golden rule is to make sure you get it set up, the problems come when you dont......

I PBV is totally pointless unless you need to increase the fueling to compensate for extra air going into the engine and NO performance air filter will produce a big enough change in the air intake that you have to increase the fuelling. A chip is a very good step as that will do the job for you and adjust the fueling correctly if any changes are need

You will only need a PBV if you are planning engine work that will increase the intake of air

which means:

turbo charging

supercharging

or head and cams

you are currently not planning any of these so it looks like a PBV on your account is going to be a waste of money

Think about it mate??

how much is a PBV going to cost? bout 110 quid! for this you might get about a 1-2 bhp increase (if your lucky)

your have already lost 5-6 bhp by foolishly using an induction kit which is the most stupid thing you can do IMO

if you want a fast motor then just use a s/s exhaust decat and hillpower chip and put the standard airbox back on with a performance element, this system on a willy engine will see you a good 15 second quarter mile. this is what all the dragstrip boys use!

the only thing after this that will make your motor any quicker is either a sealed induction kit, ie Viper 200 quid+ or head and cams 1000quid+

its your money fella so its up to you, but id spend it insted on a good xmas!

My PBV gave me a 6 or 7 bhp increese when i had it set up on the rollers. Nick R will vouch for that. I was shocked with the increese too.

And it wont cost £110 if he buys mine off me;)

LOL yeah but he would get a 6-7 bhp increase if he put his airbox back on, and that will cost him f**k all! ;)

Dude if a PBV gave a 7bhp increase on a valver or a willy why doesnt everyone use one?

All the fastest mark 1 clios at York strip dont use one

exactly they dont work!

what brake is yours at the fly and what other mods have you got? are you sure the engine wasnt running lean before it was fitted thus restoring the power back to a resonable standard power?

PBVs dont really give a power increase on a perfect engine, they just make the car respond better by providing fuel faster than the OE regulator could.

The only reason people can claim an increase (on a rolling road) is because their engines were well worn beforehand - by installing the PBV, the increased pressure compensates for some shagged parts somewhere.

As said above, their not really worth it unless youve got mods that seriously alter the air intake so in any other situation you just be wasting fuel.....

I agree. But the pbv still gave me 6 or 7 brake. All else i have is a exhaust and a induction kit. The engine wasnt well worn, had 50 something k on it at the time. Hard to belive i know, but it happened.
