Performance Air Filter???

  clio 172
Hi Everyone!

I was wondering if its worth getting a performance air filter?? Also what is the best one to get for the 172???

I was only looking at getting a normal cone ait filters not the whole unit like the viper, i know they dont make any power gains but a 182 went past the other day and it sounded gorgeous.

Also i was told to reset the ecu after fitting it? is this true? They told me to disconnent the negative to do this.

Write back with your thoughts.

you wont get much sound unless you go open filter , best is a panel filter tbh for performance ...... sounds , i'd go for an exhaust system instead .

also the ecu reset wont make much difference with filters

I dont really want exhaust system tbh, im trying to keep it standard but i want abit of sound now and again.

I was thinking of getting a cone one, i heard you only notice a difference on the inclosed induction kit if the car is remaped.

Im not really after any performance gains really, just a nice induction note.

When i spoke to the guy in research and developement at K+N , he told me always disconnect the negative for 30 mins to reset the ecu . I didn't do this when i fitted the K+N Apollo and the bloody car just stopped , had to get a tow home off the AA as he couldn't get it going again .

Lots of people on here don't seem to like cone filters , some myth about heat soak ;) . I have a K+N and a Green , pretty much the same filter tbh . Mines in a custom airbox i made though .
