Renault claim 7.1 seconds to 62 for the 182 but everyone tests it faster!

if hes used a formula, surely the figures could be way out, i mean, it doesnt incorporate torque in there

yeah but its much more simple so forget torque, gear ratios, contact patch, it gives a rough guess and is good for comparisons as both cars are tested simply. Although some figures would be well out in my opinion for example the volvos wouldnt be able to put there power down(300bhp) and then would be to heavy to do such a good 1/4mile time.

The clio times are realistic enough not 100% accurate as my cup does 60 in 6.49/6.5 and im sure that you cant get it any faster than that. But the times are near enough and if you think about it theres no driver error incorporated into this test so it doesnt depends on the weight of the driver or his skill ect. So its defiantely a good way of judging!

Some of the figures are pretty accurate when you compare them to the figures from the likes of EVO magazine.

I can see some errors already but at least one is not the fault of the formula. The weight used for the Toyota MR2 Mk2 GT is too light which explains why the 0-60 is some way quicker than reality.

There is one major flaw with the formula that is pretty obvious. Check out the Corolla T Sport 190. This a perfect demo of how acceleration times come down to more than just BHP vs weight and why a formula doesnt always work. Power distribution and gearing play a major part. The Corolla has piss poor power distribution and is impossible to keep on cam. With an 8 speed gear box it could probably achieve the time on the website but in reality its almost 2 seconds out on the 0-60.

ax gt is faster than the gti 0-60, they got it wrong way round
