Petrol Light

The light in the dash works (bulb) as it comes on when I start the engine. However I assume the sensor or similar doesn't, as I have let it go fairly well into the red and stay there for a couple of days and the light just doesn't come on. Anyone had similar problems/know if theres a quick fix?

hi blue, mine is exactly the same tbh on my mk2 ph2, only time ive seen it on is when the tank is near enuf empty and ive been parked on a hill for a while. i just tend to fill up wen i have around a quater of a tank left. it does the car no good to run on the crap thats accumulated at the bottom of the tank anyway

The gauge does work, I'll try and take a picture of how low into the red I'll let it go with still no red light. I let the needle get fully into the red before I s**t out and top up! lol

yeah, mine still didnt come up even when im on what looks like empty unless im on a hill lol

Is it set at a certain amount of petrol left? e.g. 0.5l and it will come on?

it comes on with about 4 litres left I think.

Top Tip: If you go into the diagnostic check mode (hold trip computer stalk button in when turning on ignition) and then press the stalk button again it tells you on the display how many litres are left in the tank.

4 litres seems a lot? When I stick a tenner in I'm sure it only buys about 11-12 litres?

mine comes on before the red!

Mine comes on when I have approx 32ish miles left according to the trip computer, which is about 5 litres cos I normally do 32mpg.

Well I was fairly certain it wasn't working! I s**t out straight after taking that picture and went for petrol!

mine comes on as soon as i go into the red then goes back off and comes on again when the guage doesnt move up any when you turn the key lol

Mine did this, this morning. I usually find I have used about 9.5gallons of fuel and then it comes on. Its a 50litre tank (10.9999 gallons) so you still have about 5-6 litres left. Plus when you fill up, I bet it cuts out after about 43-44 litres:approve:
