Petrol!

  Black Gold 182 (Cup Pack)
Picking up my 182 in about 3 days, just wondering (not that it matters as my work pay for my petrol) but what sort of petrol consumption figures do you get? I am going to be doing a 280 mile journey, motorway only, what sort of consuption will i get on this journey, i normally average about 80mph. Also how big is the petrol tank? and do you ever notice the difference when using BP ultimate or Optimax? I always do anyway as, like i mentioned before i dont pay for my petrol, but wondering if you notice the difference?

Preference from most on here is Optimax.

50 litre litre tank.

Mine has averaged 28 mpg in the time I have had it.

Yeah i think i will stick to the optimaz, or perhaps the 102 octane from BP, i wonder if i can buy it on my works petrol card????

On a long motorway journey you can get anything up to about 36-37mpg so long as you behave yourself. Just stick on crusie control and relax.

I'd expect at 80 on CC you'd be getting 35-36 mpg. Drop it to 75 and you'd get 37-38. Keep it below 3k revs and you'll get 40+

Also, just for reference. I once had 423 miles out of a tank full. But I've also done a tank in 198 miles also, depends on cd i have in the car. That's the excuse I use anyway.

Sounds good to me!

Well at least that's what I got when I drove down from Glasgow to Hamsphire a few weeks ago. Although like other folk have said, you can easily use a tank in 200miles... always seemed to happen when I went snowboarding this year. Must have been something to do with the roads, my right foot and over taking whole convoys in one go :)

At 50mph, optimax will get you 50mpg+, 70mph you'll get 40ish and at 80 its around 35mpg.

99 & 95Ron always fuels seem to drop the MPG. At £2 per litre 102ron is at little expensive for casual driving, it would cost £90 for a tank full and i doubt the clio would see much benefit.

  172 Cup
I managed to get from Birmingham to Bruge and back to the French border on one tank in the Cup taking it easy.

I've noticed with the 99 stuff I get far less miles from my tank.

The onboard trip computer is highly inaccurate from my experience. Take with pinch of salt.

I thought the higher ron stuff gave more mpg?

Not in my experience, hence sticking to Optimuck. I'd hate to think what the 99/102 would return on a trackday, optimax returned 11mpg.

I'm around 37.3 mpg at the moment, mostly motorway miles... 340 miles to a tank. Am i not driving hard enough? ;)

I find the same.

OK Computer: 38-39 MPG on motorway

Reign in Blood: 17 -18 MPG on B roads

you best bet is to get a calculator and work it out.

from the instant the orange lgiht comes on fill it to top and reset counter then when orange comes on.

I average around 31mpg according to the trip computer which is wildly innacurate (notice that it tells you that you are out of fuel 2 gallons before you actually are and then two weeks later tells you that you have 2 gallons left but the fuel light is on!!)
In reality I get about 27mpg on average and use Optimax for 99% of fill ups. I have experimented with tesco 99 ron and it definitely gives better performance but after a couple of tanks returns only 21mpg.

trip computer on Optimax = 31mpg reality = 27mpg
trip computer on Tesco 99 = 29mpg reality = 21mpg

I average about 500 miles per week with a mix of A and B roads and occassionally motorway. Although on long motorway trips I do get up to about 35mpg if cruising at 90 on optimax.

Once, and only once I had to fill up with standard 95ron and after about 30 miles it was an absolute pig, ran like a lump of turd and returned only 20mpg...... Makes you wonder how effectice the knock sensor really is!

tried the bp ultimate tonight ......................? cant tell the difference except the hole in my pocket
