Peugeot 205 GTi starting problems

  Clio 16v / Clio Williams
I know this isnt a renault, but french cars are often very similar. My friend is having some major problems with his pug, its not firing at all. An auto electrician checked it out and seemed to think it was the distributor. so changed that but still the same. Im a little confused about the circuit it uses. It has a crank angle sensor from what i can make out, but its not connected to anything, nor has it been for some time. Where does the trigger signal come from? Im going to change the ignition amplifier to see if that helps but after that im not really sure where to go?

Any suggestions?

The car was running fine, then left for 2 months on the drive as my friend couldnt get insured. Connected the battery back up and went to start but no spark at all...

Really stuck and need some suggestions.

Thanks, Tobe

12 years ago when i had my 205 1.9 gti I had the same problem.

it was the ignition module/amplifier, can't remember the exact name.

i think it sat on the nearside inner wing, its about 50mmx50mm and about 5-10mm thick.
