Ph1 172 Coolant Leak

Me again!

Ph1 sprung a leak AGAIN today, 3rd time in 7 months

It's coming from drivers side of the engine, are we thinking its going to be water pump? Or something else? Can't see anything else it could be that side. If so, how much of an arse is it to change a water pump on one of these?

Well done,although it would be amusing if it was the condensation dripping out the aircon.

It would be, but luckily aircon doesn't work and it lost all its coolant in the 15 minute drive from the petrol station to my house haha

That's only £200 short of full timing belt and aux belt job. Your friend was ripped off!

I did think this was steep, just called the same place to see what i get quoted by them. While i was doing the job i did think it didn't seem like a £400 job, especially as specialists will have certain specific tools and know how to do things properly.

Just called the place he got his done and got quoted £380 with Cliosport discounts...

I was quoted way less than that for a pump change I am sure. It was offered to be done for the price of the coolant swap and pump at the time of the belt change. I was told that if I did not change the pump then I was looking at aorund £150-200 IIRC which would tie in with your few hours.

We shall see. Type-D coolant today set me back around £17 for the swap in the Clio with a new thermostat coming to a little more.

£150-£200 sounds more reasonable. I won't name the place as have heard that they are very very good at what they do, just seems very steep for a few hours of relaxed work and probably 2 hours if we put our minds to it. Considering the parts cost me £50 all on, that's £330 of labour.

I was meant to say that price was for the labour ; I think £200+ was the figure I was quoted; I'll have to ask again!
