Afternoon all!

I thought I’d get a little project thread going as once it’s done it will probably be for sale as since buying it, I’ve had a change of heart and no longer want to hoard as many cars as I have. So here goes…

69,000 miles, completely standard, 2 pervious owned and a little bit of service history. 2 keys too!

i purchased it from this very forum - it’s been off the road for some years and as such needs totally refreshing but with the low mileage and low owners, I’m not going to cut any corners.

recently it’s had new sills fitted. From what I can see they’ve done a good job but I’ll be cleaning all the underseal off the repairs to check it - if it’s ok I’ll just re-do the underseal and if I’m not happy with it I’ll get them done again.

sadly, the paint job on the back wings - as good as it is - wasn’t done in an oven and has now started micro blistering so it will needs doing again.

plans…

it’s going to @lemonnobby this afternoon where the little legend will check the whole thing over and replace anything that needs replacing.
The list so far;
Belts, dephaser, massive service, gearbox oil, discs and pads, all 4 shocks and springs, track rod ends and ball joints. Updated headlight bulbs, OE dealer number plates (will need to track down the supplying dealer) and of course an advisory free MOT.

once he’s finished with it, it will be going to my interior trim guy to have the drivers seat repaired. I’ll do this by buying a rear seat and using the correct ‘leather’ to cut out and remove the damaged bit on the edge of the drivers seat. The rest of the interior just needs cleaning.

then, it’s off to the Bodyshop to have the front bumper painted as well as both rear wings. Wheels will be sent to ACE alloys in Cardiff to have 2 buckles removed and then powder coated. Michelin PS3 tyres all round will then go on.

so, here’s what I’m starting with…

Looks like a nice car. Wing with blisters has been painted before, always interesting to see what's under the paint and why they did it!

Good that your doing this as I think its too nice to be bought and turned into another track Clio. (y)

Tyres have loads of tread, you going to put them on FB market?

The rear wings were blended when they did the sills, and that’s the bit that is blistering. Which is a shame as the blend is flawless (to 99.9% of people) and if it wasn’t for the blisters I probably wouldn’t be doing any paint at all. But they definitely need doing and the bumper has some minor chips so it makes sense to get that done too whilst the paint is mixed.

All arches feel solid and good from the inside so I’m not overly concerned. our painter is really good and specializes in restoration work so even if it does need more than I’d like, I’m not worried about it at all.

Awesome, looking forward to seeing the progress of this done.

+1 on the airbox strap - mine doesn't have one, I'm sure I've binned them in the past!!!! Mine has a missing airbox clip and I remember how pleased I was with myself a few years ago when I found one and sold it on eBay for £9

Sourced the door handles yet? They look to be missing as presume broken?

Glad you're saving it, think my major everything service and Aircon recommission ran to about 1600 quid in the end so it's no small investment, but makes me happy people are willing to put the money into them now.

Watching with interest

I had a 182 a few years ago that has a thread going on here. 69k 2004 reg and it was still on the original cambelt. Didn’t look too bad when removed 😬

They’re in the car and they’re not broken. I have no idea why they aren’t fitted 🤷🏼‍♂️

For real? I've got one here with a few airboxes from old cars.

Loads of ph1 bits sat in my stables @Daniel give me a shout if you need anything.

Yep it did take a few months but it went. I won’t put prices for what I sold my spares for as Daniel might need something 😂

I don't use the original strap anymore, too valuable and of the 3 I had from breaking cars over the years, 2 snapped. So f**k paying 150 for a used original only to have it snap three days later, flol

I was thinking that. Take it off and put it in the glovebox. Put it back on when I sell it.
After @Ant1 selling it for £150, I don’t want this one getting damaged or go walkies!

@Daniel i remember back in 2015 when mine was just going to get a quick tidy up for the summer 😅 the underside sure would look nice colourcoded 👀😆

Look forward to seeing how this goes though, Loves a ph1.

Good evening all!

@lemonnobby summoned me to his ramp this evening for a good look over of the car. We’ve come up with a list of parts needed and nothing we found scared either of us so that’s good…

Cambelt Kit, aux belt kit, dephaser, oil, air, pollen and fuel filters, all shocks and springs, 2 front calipers, all discs and pads, new centre silencer, new wipers, New track rod ends, new CV boots, and new headlight bulbs.

in addition to the above we’ll be cleaning g off all the underseal (and removing the rear beam to clean all the metal above it) and making sure the sill repairs have been done properly.

I wanted to clean the brakes up and reuse them but Paul thinks otherwise…. 🙈😂

It was sat a ton in the outside lane comfortably 😂
