ph1 172 Speedo stopped working and whiney noise

Happened today on the way home from work, everything was fine and then the speedo stopped working and could hear a whining noise, are the 2 problems related?

Just checked under the car and there is transmission fluid on the ground!

known a few people have speedo problems when the gearbox is rebuilt on the ph1. best bet would be to get under and have a nose around.

Would the speedo problem cause the oil leak?
