PH1 Clio sport 172

Hi all

zakk here a cliosport newbie...

at the moment i have a 2001 audi a3 1.8T

which is up for sale...due to work needed on my new home

i realy want to get a ph1 clio sport 172... i used to work for renault as a pannel beater and can remember when the 172 was launched...
and the clio 172 was parked in the workshop...it was amazing ..

i have had a soft spot for them ever since..

just a few questions about them realy

1 which is the best year of reg to buy w-reg x or y

2 what to look for..now the ph1 is a good few years old....
I know about the steering wheel was a bad design by renault
is there any upgrade or mod you can do to sort it out...

3 best place to buy a well looked after example...

4 my budget is around £3000 to £4000 max...

Any help or advice would be great

im thinking of selling mine, steering wheel is just something you have to live with, i was lucky enough to get hold of a rsi wheel but lived with it before that...

I was going to suggest it but wasn't sure it was still up for sale,

It tends to be the earlier models which have the alloy bonnet and green gear shift light, however it is down to the factory the car came from (or so edde tells me )

Theres a really good guide on here about everything you need to look for, have a search. As for the best place to buy one i'd defo go for one off here, or maybe pistonheads
