I'd rather put a 182 engine in tbh.
Throttle is by cable on the ph1 for a start.
I was thinking that so just swap inlet over?
182 upper inlet will fit but you have to mod it slightly.
Seems like effort, when there are plenty of ph2 172/182 engines around, no?
only takes five minutes, phase 1 head has slightly bigger exhaust ports and lighter crank.
I have a Ph1 in mine. Inlets (and pretty much everything else) carried over from my damaged 182 engine. Same clutch (although I got a new one as the engine was already out = no labour cost).
I didn't do the change myself (Rentech did it) so can't give you specifics. But from my discussions with Mike, theres a fairly unimportant bolt that can't be fitted properly on the upper inlet and a spare pipe to block off.
Any pointers or things to consider or swap over? My 182 engine has all the bits.
